Kick Ass Is Officially A Movie

Kick-Ass is hardly your friendly neighborhood superhero.

Based on the same-titled Icon comic book by prolific writer Mark Millar and artist John Romita Jr., the movie follows high school student Dave Lizewski, who decides to become a superhero despite not having any super powers or formal training.

For readers of the mini-series concerned that the Matthew Vaughn-directed movie will water down its violence, language, or dark tones, fear not. A recent trip to the Toronto set found a costume clad Dave defending a badly beaten victim from three blood thirsty attackers. A scene ripped straight out of the comic book, actor Aaron Johnson sported a spot on green colored outfit with yellow boots, gloves, and trim.

To further prove the film will stay faithful to its source material, the producers whipped out a laptop to showcase a sequence where the young Hit Girl cocks a gun in a thug’s mouth and systematically blasts her other weapon wielding adversaries through his cheek before somersaulting into an even more aggressive attack mode

Remembering Michael Crichton

“Jurassic Park” author Michael Crichton died unexpectedly yesterday in Los Angeles after a battle with cancer, he was 66.

The Chicago-born, Harvard-educated medical doctor was never content to sticking with medicine and became a notable film and television producer and director.

Along with penning both fiction and non-fiction works, Crichton wrote and directed several motion pictures including 1973’s “Westworld,” 1978’s “Coma,” 1981’s “Looker” and 1984’s “Runaway”. He also co-wrote the screenplay for “Twister” and famously created the long-running drama series “ER”.

He remains most well-known however for his best-selling cautionary-themed techno-thriller novels which have sold 150 million copies worldwide.

It was the mid-90’s however that saw a true flood of Crichton lit-adaptations hit the market place thanks to the success of his best work “Jurassic Park” which Steven Spielberg famously adapted in 1993.

His most recent work released was 2006’s “Next” which explored the legal issues surrounding genetic research. Crichton had completed work on his next book, an as-yet-untitled thriller originally due out early next month, before he died.

Good Morning Mr. Obama

The results of the election were not much of a shock. I am a patriot through and through and I fully support my Commander and Chief. Currently that job is in the hands of W and next year will it be passed to O. Let’s forget the long road to election and focus on the new day and the work at hand.

1. Russia to deploy missiles near NATO border
2. U.S. deaths at an all-time high in Afghanistan
3. Iran trying new nuclear experiments
4. European markets lower despite Obama win

Good Morning Mr. Obama. Congratulations on the win. Now get to work..

Rogue joins up the Brotherhood. X-Mansion is rebuilt with Angel’s Wealth. Emma Frost is able to locate a comatose Charles on Genosha in the care of Magneto. On hearing this, Cyclops returns to the team and X-Men go to Genosha to find Professor X. After a short battle with Magneto, they are allowed to take Professor X back with them at the X-Mansion. Professor X contacts the X-Men telepathically from twenty years into the future and informs Wolverine that he is to lead the X-Men if they wish to successfully save the world from The Sentinel Project and prevent the Brotherhood of Mutants and the Acolytes from taking over the world before the future ends up being dominated by Sentinels.

The Low Down On The ICON Called STING.

Sting has been wrestling for over 20 years and held various World Titles. Does he deserve to be in the Wrestling Hall of Fame? Yes. But this will not happen until he makes the ultimate move, WWE. It’s no secret Vince McMahon has been been asking and making Sting offers for years but the painted face vigilante has stayed away. Now with his feet planted firmly and his “star” on the rise once again, he has found his home in TNA-Total Non-Stop Action. I love Jeff Jarrett’s wrestling brand. It has a long way to go before having the world wide coverage and recognition WWE gets. It’s definitely a better show when it comes to wrasslin’.

Maybe Vince will one day have the right contract and the right attitude to get Sting on the show. Maybe Sting can see something that we don’t all see yet. For now he’s in TNA and so far Mick Foley has joined, Kevin Nash renewed his contract a few weeks ago, and Kurt Angle is not budging.

Here’s a recent Interview with Sting at thesun.co.uk

Entourage, Episode “First Class Jerk” 10/26/2008

Drama really f’d with the guy code. Never doubt your boy in front of other people when it comes to girls. If your friend is so pathetic then why are you hanging around him. Of course Turtle was telling the truth.

Anyway, so far this is the next best season of Entourage to the first. The first has a special place in my heart and this one is pulling a close second. It seems they are moving more in the direction of Ari Gold being the lead instead of Eric. Piven deserves the spotlight with all those damn Emmy’s.
